Santiago has extensive experience in the design of monitoring systems to measure different aspects of the hydrological cycle with a particular focus on water quality including a competence in the use of hydrological and water quality models (e.g. JAMS/J2000, SWAT) as tools for water resources management.
He has also experience as consultant for international organisations, such as GIZ and TNC, on various environmental issues including monitoring to assess the impact of nature-based solutions, the use of GIS as a tool for land management, the potential of the WEF-Nexus as a tool for resources management and the evaluation of groundwater resources.
He has more than 8 years of teaching experience in master courses and in the preparation, moderation and delivery of workshops and trainings in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Mexico, Guatemala, Niger and Germany.
