Short Bio

Dr. Simone Sandholz is a senior scientist at UNU-EHS.

In her research, she focuses on different aspects of future-oriented risk reduction with a focus on urban areas. Her particular fields of expertise are resilient urban and regional development, focusing on critical infrastructures and nature-based solutions for risk reduction and climate change adaptation, and sociocultural aspects of sustainable development, namely adaptive social protection, good governance and sustainable livelihood approaches Among others she is leading research projects on emergency preparedness planning for water supply outages and the link of urban (infrastructure) development to social resilience building.
