Impluse
Data and information management are essential foundations for strengthening water security and resilience in the face of climate change. Reliable, accessible and well-structured information supports evidence-based decision-making, enables cooperation across disciplines and sectors and helps identify effective responses to water-related risks. However, challenges remain in connecting data, knowledge and action in ways that are useful for science, policy and practice. This writeshop invites participants to jointly explore how data and information can be better managed, shared and applied to support resilient water systems. The format is designed to foster transdisciplinary interaction and to create tangible, high-impact outcomes, such as project proposals, research networks or other initiatives in the interest of participants.
Activity, output and outcome
Interested conference participants are invited to form writeshop teams around jointly developed ideas related to data and information management for water security and resilience. Participants may propose collaborative endeavours by outlining a core topic or research question, the tasks to be addressed during the writeshop and the intended deliverable, documentation method and potential long-term impact beyond WSCC 2026. Proposed ideas will be shared among the participants and selected through a joint process, after which teams of approximately 4 to 10 members will be formed. Each team will organize its work internally, including the selection of a moderator to support alignment on the topic, tasks and target deliverables.
During the writeshop, teams will elaborate their selected topics through focused collaboration, develop core content, draft materials and structure their intended outputs. Depending on the interests of the participants, these outputs may include the outline of a research proposal, the concept for a research network, a joint initiative, methodological guidance, a documentation framework or another concrete product relevant to improved data and information management for water security and resilience. The writeshop will conclude with the finalization and presentation of team results, including a summary poster that documents the main outcomes and future roadmap. Selected representatives may present their results in a plenary setting and discuss the broader relevance and potential impact of the work. Immediate outputs include the jointly prepared group deliverables, posters and presentations, while expected outcomes may include continued collaboration, project proposal development, research networks or other follow-up initiatives extending beyond the conference.
