Operationalizing Water Security: From Circular Technologies to Nature-Based Nexus Solutions

Water security can no longer be achieved through isolated, single-sector management. To safeguard our resources against climate extremes and growing demand, we must move beyond theoretical frameworks and operationalize integrated solutions on the ground. This session explores practical, technological, and ecological strategies that actively balance competing water demands, manage physical trade-offs, and enhance resilience across the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) nexus. Spanning case studies from India, Uzbekistan, Bolivia, Ecuador, Brazil, Bangladesh, and Thailand, participants will be taken on a journey across different spatial scales of intervention. From AI-driven greywater recycling and the ‘groundwater recharge paradox’ to nature-based solutions and basin-scale modeling, this session showcases how to translate complex nexus interdependencies into actionable real-world strategies.
